Balotelli’s father levels bribery allegations against GFA

The biological father of the Milan striker claims his younger brother was asked to pay for a call-up to Ghana’s national team

Mario Balotelli’s biological father Thomas Barwauh says an unnamed official of the Ghana Football Association demanded bribe to hand the AC Milan striker’s younger brother Enoch a call up to the Black Stars.

Enoch is currently on the books of Italian Serie D side Rapallo Bogliasco and has never hidden his desire to play for Ghana, although his elder brother Mario plays for Italy.

The siblings were born to Ghanaian immigrants in Palermo, Sicily.

“He [GFA official] paid us a visit in Italy,” Thomas told Asempa FM.

“I learnt they were ready to invite Enoch to play for Ghana in a tournament in South Africa.

“But he asked us to pay and manage my son in addition and I strongly objected to his proposal.”

While Enoch grew up with his Ghanaian family, Mario, on the other hand, was brought up by foster Italian parents. Thomas, however, reveals Mario has reached out to the family after earlier controversies over his custodianship.

“Mario has reunited with us, and he understands his biological grounding very well,” he said.

Last week, Thomas also disclosed that according to Mario’s friends, the former Manchester City forward has regretted committing his international future to the Azzurri.
