SAMPLING OTHER PEOPLE'S SONGS DEVELOPS YOUR CREATIVITY - STONEBWOY

Whereas many musicians and music lovers frown upon using their colleagues’ instrumentals, Stonebwoy, who is noted for busting some lyrics on the instrumentals on an already produced song by another artiste doesn’t see anything wrong with doing that. According to him, that rather pushes your creativity as an artiste.

He said this to Kwesi Dope, host of The Brunch on Spyderlee Entertainment TV on Sunday, when he touched down in Ghana after months in the U.S for a knee cap surgery. Kwesi Dope asked him why he usually uses other musician’s instrumentals and how that affects his originality.

‘It rather pushes your creativity. Here lies the case where that rhythm has been well ‘messed up’ by another artiste so you are going on the same rhythm to also prove a point. I don’t frown on it at all. That’s why when people use my rhythms for songs like ‘Mightelele,’ ‘Go Higher’ and the rest; I don’t have a problem because it inspires them to their highest creativity.

Some artistes think because their songs have become hits they’ve ‘murdered’ the beat but someone else can also go on that same beat to make another hit song,’ the Bhimnation CEO said.

Stonebwoy has sampled songs from Arketek Music for his hit song ‘Not Again,’ Trigga Refix for ‘Hills&Valley,’ Joey B’s ‘Tonga’ and many more. He isn’t the only artiste noted for using other musicians’ instrumentals. ‘Y3wo krom’ crooner, Atom, also used Gasmilla’s hit song ‘Telemo’ to produce his hit song ‘Y3wo krom,’ which got everyone talking.
